Alex Belk continued his gold winning ways by securing the only gold for Skipton in his favoured event of 100Breaststroke in the Junior category. His time of 1.12.79 in the heat was just outside a National Qualifying Time, 1.12.27. He also secured other medals in 200 Breaststroke (2nd), 200IM (2nd), 400IM (3rd). Alex will be travelling with the Yorkshire Team to Malaga at half term for a warm weather training camp.
Other multiple medal winners were Josh Brown, who is showing great promise as a sprinter. His swim in the 50 free with a time of 26.76, which was just outside his best, gave him silver whilst his swim in the 50 Back (32.75) gave him a bronze medal in the Junior category. Meanwhile, Jenna Chatburn received two bronzes in the 50 and 200 Breaststroke. Jenna is preparing for the British Championships in April where she will be competing with the elite of British Swimming. She will be the first ever swimmer to represent Skipton at such a high level event.
Kirsty Cummins, who swam so well at Harrogate in January raced to her first ever County medal in the 50 fly. After being called into the final as a reserve she swam in the outside lane and achieved a time of 32.98 to receive a bronze medal in the Junior category.
Other top 10 finishes came from Tierney Maude and Carey Senczyszyn.
Luke Maude swam a fantastic 100 free to record one of the few personal bests for the Skipton swimmers. He is due to compete in the National Championships for running at half term.
The Performance Squad are currently
preparing for their target meet in April, which will be the Premier Meet at
Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
